Let’s land you a role where your “weird” is celebrated rather than sidelined.

We help marginalized design nerds who feel like they are the only ones in the room advocate their story. Work with someone actually gives a damn about your growth and sees your success as a win-win.
Where are you feeling stuck? Let us know how we can help you by pressing left or right to choose.

Start off with our email newsletter, One More Run.

Every week, you will learn how to cultivate your design thinking, build clarity in your pitch and portfolio so others who match your energy can find you, and tips about storytelling to help you set yourself apart from the crowd.

Hey, I’m Demetruis 👋🏿. The Founder.

Frame One Design is a Black-owned business. Growing up as a blerd (black + nerd) in every enjoyment and facet of my life, I have been seen as the token compared to my peers throughout both my STEM and design careers.

I started as a software engineer from the nation’s top school in undergraduate engineering, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and I hit a wall. Programming, especially as a career path, did not spark joy. So I leveraged that background into what I loved, designing for other people. I worked as a UX Designer with over 10+ years of experience specializing as a UX Architect across organizations like FedEx Express, Blink UX, and Costco Wholesale.

It really rubs my brain the right way to solve problems by building strong foundations on how real people think and interact with products, and I bring a deep understanding of UX, product strategy, and a love of how people “learn how to learn” from my passion of playing video games. I love to use that passion to connect communities of people together.

Our mentees landed offers at Nintendo, TikTok, & Cloudflare.

The proof is in the pudding. No BS.
  • "I meet Demetruis through the UXPA cohort, and honestly it was the best thing to come out of the program. At the time I had the work, I just didn’t know how to show it. My portfolio made sense to me, but nobody else. He sat with me and asked me one simple question, 'What’s the story you want to tell?' and I couldn’t answer it. That was my wake up call.

We worked through everything together, not just moving stuff around, but figuring out how to talk about my work in a way that felt like me. My interviews started feeling like real conversations instead of something that I had to survive. But honestly, the thing that got me the most, were the hard days...the design docs, the moments where we would talk through everything.

Demetruis never threw empty encouragement at me, just real talk. The kind where you handle the cold feeling with the 'Okay, I can do something.' I’m really grateful for connecting with him. He helped me with my portfolio and helped me believe in my own work."

  • "Demetruis helped me develop a personal plan to transition from graphic design into the UX discipline, guiding me each step of the way. This included refining my portfolio and resume to showcase the UX adjacent work I had already been doing. This allowed me to put my best foot forward and it put me where I am today.

I felt confident in Demetruis's knowledge and advice was solid and tailored to my needs. That support was not only practical but essential in helping me get where I am today. I am truly thankful for his help, and anyone else would be lucky to have that."

  • "This is so refreshing to have a new set of eyes on my work. Especially one of us. I really appreciate your feedback, and many of your thoughts are things I've been concerned about. But the way you framed most of them immediately turned on a light on how I can create clarity around these areas."

  • "The years before that were confusing and anxious, but I kept my head up and powered through. Your support through job interview prep and real-world, corporate knowledge was extremely helpful to me, and you even got me an interview at FedEx! I really enjoyed all our practice interviews and portfolio reviews, and your expertise in the field was good to know.

Though I didn't end up in the UX design industry, the time we spent doing interview prep and working up my confidence was super helpful in guiding me to my current job now! Through a lucky job application and right timing, I was able to end up in this position that has dramatically changed my life."

  • "Over the past few months, I've learned to believe in what I love, stay curious, and be bold in chasing opportunities in this age of AI. I've always been passionate about design systems, and I was especially excited by the opportunity to learn how they scale and drive consistency across products in big tech.

When I applied for this role, I also came across the hiring post on LinkedIn, which really motivated me to reach out. I sent my first cold message ever believe I wanted to do everything I could to give myself a chance to be seen by the team, and it actually worked!

I'm grateful to my mentor from UXPA, Demetruis Vassar, for all the guidance and support over the past several months."
